I recall it is the type of .mpg yous are trying to play. I'g not sure almost this, only since some .mpg'southward play fine, I think that .mpg standard format must have gotten upgraded or something to where the newer media players no longer play the old format. Then your .mpg, if created earlier this new format, tin only play the audio part and non show the visual. I'm sure there is a prepare, merely information technology'due south probably a freeware offering to upgrate your file to the new .mpg format. We should not need additional codecs since the required ones were on the machine earlier information technology was upgraded and nowhere in either the upgrade study nor Microsoft's data did it say that codecs were going to be uninstalled.

I take been contacted by 9 of my video editing clients since upward-dating to the latest iteration of Win 10all with the same fault being that it has become Incommunicable to continue using windows based software when it was viable before, one of whom is part mode through a client attended session, when the PC updated overnight and I have just had to supply him with 1 of my edit systems. to preclude him losing the customer! It is to be noted that cards from the same camera worked before the update and did not work later on. What is Microsoft'southward solution please? My one is to disconnect the internet Not good thing for the 'Cloud' users.

Just get VLC and be done with it. VLC has so far played all sorts of files. All my .WTV files play in information technology. Sadly WMC is gone in Windows 10 equally well as a few other media things.

You can get all sorts of codec'south from places online but you lot really don't know the security of it.

Honestly, I purchased a computer to brand life easier. What the heck is this 'codec' concern? I'k not a computer engineer or an IT person. Why didn't Microsoft have intendance of this minutia earlier they released this version of Windows?

Wayne...I concord 100%. Sometimes I wish I could attain through the cyberspace and slap around the people at Microsoft that seemingly make things More difficult instead of easier. It is absolutely ridiculous that a .mpg file that played fine four years ago on an older operating system will not play at present.
